MPO file extension was created by The Camera & Imaging Products Association (CIPA) for storing pictures taken with a photocamera equipped with multiple stereoscopic lens system, such as Fujifilm FinePix Real 3D series. MPO file contains two 2D images in JPG format that are combined to created a single 3D image. Each file can also contain metadata.
