What is XPF file?

Files with the extension .XPF contain a security project for Windows system applications created in the XProtector software, also known as Xtreme-Protector. This solution was developed for developers by Oreans Technologies as a part of Themida®. It was used to apply predefined security measures embedded in the application during its design and coding - creation. It aims to protect against reverse-engineering or cracking.

What do .XPF files contain?

.XPF files are in a format that can be edited in the native XProtector software. They may contain saved in a structured form:

  • security settings - parameters,
  • configuration methods,
  • other input data necessary for the proper operation of the program.

There is no official specification regarding the content and use of the file. Currently, the .XPF file format is not in use and has been deemed obsolete.

  • Finally select Look for another app on this PC, point to the folder where XProtector is installed, check the Always use this app to open XPF files box and conform your selection by clicking OK button

  • By clicking right mouse button on the selected XPF file open the file menu and choose Information
  • Open the Open with section by clicking its name
  • Select the appropriate software and save your settings by clicking Change all
  • If you followed the previous steps a message should appear: This change will be applied to all files with XPF extension. Next, click the Continue button to finalize the process.

Step 4. Verify that the XPF is not faulty

If you followed the instructions form the previous steps yet the issue is still not solved, you should verify the XPF file in question. Problems with opening the file may arise due to various reasons.
